This site is for my students (and anyone else who's interested!). Although there are plenty of transcriptions out there on the web, most students have no idea what they sound like -- minimizing the potential for learning and growth. Also, most young students aren't in a position to buy these recording, either for financial reasons or because they are out of print. This site features many transcriptions of the great Charles McNeal, some of my own, and some from my students.

Phil Woods' solo on "Just The Way You Are", from Billy Joel's "The Stranger", is arguably the greatest saxophone solo in the modern era of popular music... maybe in the history of popular music. Also, I'd have to say that this solo is directly responsible for me wanting to pick up the horn. Although Phil manages to play a beautifully lyrical solo, he never strays far from his bebop sensibilites. Just gorgeous...
